| Ziska handles beautifully under sail with a good turn of speed and has proved competative in most of the races we've endured, including the Antigua Classics where she never lost a race and took the best restoration prize. Ziska was even chartered for a documentary of an expedition done by the writer and explorer Tim Severin. She is the perfect cruising boat and to prove it we will deliver her any where in the world! We will certainly miss her when she sells and it will be hard to beat her speed and handling but we are currently building a 32 foot little sister to Ziska on Martha's Vineyard. Ziska was launched on the 28th of January from the well known builders of Crossfield & Sons in Morecambe Bay. (Near Liverpool, England) They mainly built prawners (shrimp boats) although the yard had a reputation for weatherly craft which also brought commitions for yachts and pilot cutters. Ziska is basically a five year old boat with 99 years of history and has been professionally maintained since the restoration. All that remains original is the ballast keel, the wooden keel and a few planks. The sails, rig, frames and most planking is all five years old. She is engineless but we would be happy to install an engine for the buyer. |
