26' Fay & Bowen, 1912

18'

This 26ft. special wide launch, hull #480 is one of the finest, if not the absolute best example of a restored Fay & Bowen that can be found today. Because this boat was originally a salt water verison, even though it never was in salt water, it was restored to those standards. This means that all the hardware is triple plated brass including the strut, rudder, skeg, prop and exhaust. The original engine was removed long ago and replaced with a 45 hp Grey marine 4 cylinder engine wnich was totally rebuilt. Because of this weight reduction the bow rides a little higher and dryer than with the original motor. Another improvment was the adding of a new aluminum gas tank built to the original shape and size but with baffles and a venting system that cannot be seen because it has been incorperated in with the bilge port. To further enhance the boats safety all the wiring connections have been soldered and grounded to make everything correspond to today's standards. One final addition were stainless steel lifting rings. This enables one to launch or cradle the boat without the use of straps, thus avoiding marring the finish on the sides. These lifting rings can only be seen with the removal of the floor boards so as not to detract from the original look of the boat. It is this attention to detail, from the seventeen coats of varnish to all the screws facing in the same direction that make this boat a great prize to any collection. A truly must see boat. JUST REDUCED!!

79' Danish Fishing Ketch, 1903

79' Danish Fishing Ketch, 1903

Purchased her and sailed her from Denmark to Vancouver Island, BC, Canada in 1978. Major rebuild and maintainance programs over the past 35 years of my owning her. Used for chartering coastal and offshore passages. Commercially fished salmon for 15 years on the BC Coast. Fish hold removed in 2004 and new salon installed in its place. Providence has been my way of life and she has always earned her keep. I have photos from the Maritime Museum in Denmark as well as a copy of her history since launching in 1903. I am closing in on 70 years of life and realise that Providence needs a younger person to take over and keep her on course as I have for the past 36 years.

Coquina has been sailed continuously every year. She usually winters in the water and is hauled only for maintenance. She's sea kindly - she's not a show boat. She'll sail herself in a steady breeze close hauled with no tiller lashing if her sails are balanced properly. I wooded the hull and mast in 2010 and fresh paint will go on bottom and topsides again this spring (2012.)The deck and cabin need paint. All hardware is the original Merriman bronze, including all winches. She was designed as a MORC (mini ocean racer/ cruiser) by Sparkman & Stephens and she's taken good care of this old sailor. With a little investment she'll sail beautifully for another 50 years.

16' Truscott Fantail Launch, 1903

19'

This extraordinarily-graceful and quite rare classic fantail launch is in mid-restoration with all new steamed white oak ribs (56), floors, keel, deadwood, sternpost, and stern sheer plank and framing. The stem has been re-set. Otherwise ALL wood is original to boat. The Engine is an early replacement with original Truscott drive. All replacement fastenings are either copper rivets, or silicon bronze, the latter almost all beeswax-coated. All hardware (except bow light) is original, including patented adjustable hardware for striped/scalloped canopy (in tatters, but suitable for pattern). Fine delicate carved trailboards. All parts are bundled and tagged. There is a detailed inventory, and an extensive written description has been drafted. Included is a 1905 Truscott catalog, and c. 1922 Kermath parts list, diagram and manual (all reproductions). Many photos documenting restoration progress are available. Almost all the parts are original to the boat, and almost all of those parts are restorable by the meticulous restorer. A less complete twin to this remarkable boat is displayed on the main exhibiion hall floor in the famed Deutches Museum in Munich; and identical or near-identical launches were supplied by Truscott to the 1903 St. Louis Louisiana Purchase Exposition.

RARE OPPORTUNITY FOR COLLECTOR Very rare mint 1954 Paceship Acadian from Mahone Bay NS. Molded mahogany strip professionally refinished 2002/2003 (no fiberglass), all orig. collectors boat powered by vintage 1954 Johnson 25 (1 spare motor) more pics avail., serious inquiries/offers only. Day: (613)229-7644, bwebster@stantec.com Other information: The motor is a RD16, SN 1135278 (1954) and is not electric start. I have 1 other - a RD 13 that I have not started, but is not seized and was running when I acquired it last year. The RD16 that I use on the boat is in great condition and a prize candidate to restore to mint (see pic). It has been repainted in the past, and I had planned to restore it but no longer have time. I have the original shop manual (copy) as well as the original decals and gasket set. The Acadian is near mint, and was painstakingly restored by Millar and Potter in Manotick over the winter of 2002 (over 160 hrs of labour) - no fiberglass was used! The boat was in great shape before the restoration, but needed tlc to make it as nice as it is now. There are no records that I can locate to date it exactly (hull is stamped 800.1314 under the front seat, and the original Acadian sticker is still on the transom) but from the documentation I have uncovered the hull was manufactured between 1949 and 1954 by the Industrial Shipping Co. Ltd. in Mahone Bay, NS. It was originally owned by a DR. Peter MacLauchlan who had the boat rigged and finished at Blair Equipment Ltd. in Ottawa (the original plate is on the deck, just behind the windshield).
