The tradition of building ships in Bodrum is as old as the town, going back at least some 2500 years. History records that Artemisia, the ruler of Caria, commanded her own naval squadron in the battle of Salamis in 480 BC, lending credence to the belief that ships were built in or near the city of Halicarnassus, the ancient name of Bodrum. The seafaring traditions of the Carians and Dorians, who lived together in Halicarnassus and supplied ships to Egyptian Pharaohs, add weight to the premise that shipbuilding here is an ancient craft. Late records, from the days of the Ottoman Empire, show that Bodrum shipyards did built ships for the Ottoman navy. Today the tradition continues and the same hand craftsmanship is joined with modern materials to make outstanding works of art. The fit and finish are impeccable. Build time is measured in years, not hours or days. The Gulet style boats were designed and built to allow maximum deck space for the passengers. This tradition continues with the massive foredeck and well appointed foredeck lounges. The interior is striking with the rich dark wood and white accents. Large windows and overhead hatches allow plenty of natural light. If you have a passion for beautiful things, this will fit your collection. To be honest, words cannot describe the beauty of this boat. It is more than wood, leather and stainless steel. Like all wood boats, their is a sense of a nearly living being not found in boats of other materials. Timeless lines and modern amenities blend together seamlessly. If you have never owned or spent time aboard wooden boats, it is a boating experience like no other. This boat takes it to the ultimate level. Enjoy the pictures and draw your own conclusions. Builder is seeking offers. More details and pictures are coming. This boat is located in Turkey.
Accomodations:
This boat was built with comfort, beauty and relaxation in mind. Starting aft, there is a huge sunning area that will allow the entire family to stretch out and relax. White upholstery stands out against the surrounding wooden rails and bulkheads. A natural teak deck is protected by a stainless and fabric top. Moving forward, a covered helm and seating area is as functional as it is gorgeous. The helm is well laid out and features full engine instrumentation with single lever Morse controls. There is plenty of space to install electronics if you desire. Aft of the helm is a two person settee. To starboard is an L-shaped settee with one of three beautiful wood dining tables found aboard. There is room for 6 or 7 to dine al fresco. Beautiful white upholstery is found throughout the entire vessel. Below, a Master stateroom and two doubles for guests or family have en suite heads and plenty of room. Beauty goes hand in hand with comfort as the dark woods and light accents and upholstery continues to provide a warm and rich feel to the boat.
Mechanical Equipment:
Twin Iveco 280 HP diesels.
Galley:
The galley is fully equipped and features a 4 burner gas stove. Another beautiful dining table is just aft of the galley. Teak floors, laminated wood appointments and white upholstery are a nice mix.
Electrical System:
22 kWA Isuzu generator.
Deck and Hull Equipment:
The foredeck may be the highlight if you are a sun lover. Eight separate lounges and a third dining table with curved lounge make for a very unique and usable area.
Sails and Rigging:
The deck hardware is of top quality as you would expect.
Additional Equipment:
This is not a boat for everyone, but if you have a passion for wood, beautiful things and boating, it may be the one for you.
