Further Comments
This is a rare and fine example of an antique launch, restored to pristine condition. Built by the renown George Lawley and Son Company. His shipyard was in South Boston. This is a great, original example of his artistry in boat building. There is one on display at Mystic Seaport in Connecticut! The boat is 10 feet in length with a 4 foot beam. It has exquisite lines and is very well built (see number of ribs). The frame/ribs are oak, the planks cedar, and mahogany gunwales, seats and transom. All fastened together with bronze screws and brackets. There are two oarlock positions (forward and back). The boat was completely restored, from top to bottom. professionally caulked and painted. Exterior is white, with a pale gray/blue interior (low glare) and mahogany brightwork throughout. The gunwale bumpers are hemp/rope and there is a perfect antique penlight (red/port and green/starboard) light fixture on the bow. This can be connected to a battery. I bought the boat from the original owner, who used it as the tender for his vintage Friendship Sloop. I can deliver at $1.00 per mile,or buyer can pick up!
