Candlewin was built on Vancouver Island by George Bruigom in 1978. She is a very strongly built vessel capable of making long journeys and has travelled extensively in South Pacific all the way to Easter Island, South America, West and East coasts of Central America and Caribbean Sea. She transversed the Panama Canal 5 times and cruised twice up the American East Coast. At this moment her home port is Lunenburg in Nova Scotia. Following World War II there was an inadequate supply of mahogany to build boats. The Chris Craft Rocket was built with Spanish Cedar and in 1947 came in White and Atomic Blue. A collectors dream! I was a boy of six when the boat was delivered to a neighbor next to our Wisconsin cottage. The boat was a hit on the lake and I was always lucky to get a ride. In the mid-sixties the neighbor died and I bought my dream boat. I owned the Rocket until 1973 when we sold the cottage. This series of Chris Craft Runabouts are amongst the more rare collectables on the market currently. They were built between 1922-1930 with an unknown number built. Children gone, no longer use her. 260 hour restoration to as-new ≈10 years ago by my husband after 30 years in my father’s garage. Installed modern drive system when restored for safety: Have original cable-drive system. This beautiful 1939 Chris Craft is one of 70 produced and one of five known to still exist. The Hull is original wood.
It was recently refinished with 7 coats of marine varnish, new bottom paint and boot stripe. It also has a new rudder and a recent rebuild on the Chevy 6 cyl engine. The transmission has also been checked and resealed.
Original windshield and the rear seat is forward facing. Comes with trailer. Great condition and runs perfect.
