Further Comments
Following World War II there was an inadequate supply of mahogany to build boats. The Chris Craft Rocket was built with Spanish Cedar and in 1947 came in White and Atomic Blue. A collectors dream! I was a boy of six when the boat was delivered to a neighbor next to our Wisconsin cottage. The boat was a hit on the lake and I was always lucky to get a ride. In the mid-sixties the neighbor died and I bought my dream boat. I owned the Rocket until 1973 when we sold the cottage. The sale to a friend was with the promise that I would have first shot if he wanted to sell it. Twenty two years later I bought it back and kept it in storage until 2001 when I contracted with experts in Waupaca, Wisconsin and at the Fox River Valley Boat Co. in McHenry, Illinois to restore it to new condition.
