Further Comments
A rare, largely original, 35 ft 'bull nose' Constellation. The "Woody" lived the first 55 years of her life on clear cold water very close to her Algonac, MI origin. She has a lovely 'cocktails on the water' aft deck design. The instrument console is stunning. The interior is fitted out with these build options : 6 (small people) berths from the combination of the fore berth, lounge convertible to bunk beds, dinette area convertible to twin sleeping; many built in drawers and closets; private head with wet sink; and kitchenette with wet sink and operating vintage refrigerator.
The new owner needs to have an appreciation for vintage wooden boats, and the gleam in the eye necessary to be Captain of the Tremendous Woody.
A quick run down of useful information about the boat:
Chris Craft original Hull Number: X-34-523 (image of the original build sheet and bill of sale is available)
Has the original pair of MCLR 175 HP Chris Craft Hercules engines and transmissions. Drive shafts were replaced in 1995 with 1.375 inch diameter stainless steel. Two 75 gallon gasoline tanks.
The Woody was hauled in 2013, and shipwrights at Sarles Marina, Annapolis, replaced the transom, and replaced or reattached all hull planks and frames as needed to give the boat years of additional life. Materials and techniques used were true to the original construction of the boat (details of the work completed, photos, invoices available. Note, the swim deck was removed; available if desired).
The deck seating, captains chairs, interior dining, lounge couch / bunk bed, and forward berth upholstery were renovated in 2012 by a vintage boat / auto upholstery restoration company - with new marine plywood foundations, marine foam, modern / durable marine leatherette and cloth materials: all done sympathetically to original construction and finishes.
In 1995, the respected Mayea Boat and Aircraft works renovated the interior wood work, replaced the electrical systems, installed holding tanks, re-chromed all metal work, pulled and fully restored both engines and drive trains. A heater / AC system was installed (AC not operable - may simply need charging). Note: the radar system was removed in 2012. A non functioning / decommissioned Onan generator on board.
Many more pictures are available upon request (through a shared Google drive folder).
Will accept up to $10,000 of the sale payment as a cash donation to the charity "Washington English Center" (allowing purchaser to realize a charitable tax deduction on that portion of the purchase price).
Price will be reduced for reasonable costs of transportation incurred by purchaser.
