FREE PROJECT BOAT

The boat is complete except for a motor and seats. The seats installed when I bought the boat weren't original. I had planned to make wood seats typical of these boats with cushions. As I disassembled the boat, I made an effort to label the parts, even if I only kept them for a pattern. Here's what I have done so far:

I made and installed 44 new ribs. Most are steam bent, a few are laminated due to the tight radius. White oak. All new fasteners are silicon bronze. I fabricated and installed the 3 piece keel assembly. I fabricated the bilge battens and cross pieces. Is drilled for assembly but is loose to allow for bilge painting.

When the ribs were out, I used a stripper and removed the original varnish. All components and the hull interior have been treated with Smiths CPES. Over this I have been painting the bilge with "Bilgecoat"

The plywood planking all seems to be in excellent shape. The machine screw fasteners are all tight. I did intend on replace the uppermost hull plank (sheerstrake)  on both sides as the lower edge is soft in areas. I also intended to replace the deck for aesthetic reasons. I saved the interior flooring for use as a pattern only.

The exterior of the hull has been stripped of paint. Transom is sound. Glass is all excellent, no cracking or chips. I was planning on replacing the window molding. It is available at "Thompson Dockside"

I made a "rotisserie” for working ease. Its works well. Goes with the boat.

Trailer: New coupler, lights, winch, wheels and hubs are new also. "Bearing Buddies"

The boat is located in Midland Michigan.  A really nice fairly easy first project for someone.
