The History:

A beautiful 1930 29' Model 45 Sea Lyon. Purchased from the Lyon Tuttle Co. in 1930 by Robert Colgate it was first delivered to Black Oyster Bay in Long Island to the Colgate estate. 

In 1947, Mr. Colgate put the Maski on the rocks and sank her. Ini a letter to the president of the Sterling Engine Company, reference to a conversation they both had at the New York Yacht Club about repowering the Maski with a 225 H.P. Sterling. 

In the late 80's the boat was sold out of the Colgate estate to a gentleman in Albany NY. After running the boat in the Hudson River the keel was cracked and the boat was pulled and sat until 1989 when purchased by the current owners. After picking up the boat on 12/16/89 a restoration of over 4000 hours began. In June 6, 1990 the Maski was re-christened. 

Over the next six years she has won many awards and featured in books:

  • 1st Place in class and Best of show Algonac, MI 1990/1995
  • 1st Place in class and Best of show St Clair, MI 1992/1994/1996
  • 1st Place in class and Best of show Hessel, MI (The following year Featured Boat 1990/1991)
  • 1st Place in class and Best of show Charlevoix, MI 1991
  • 1st Place in class and Best of show Lake Winnipesaukee, NH 1991
  • 1st Place in class and Best American Entry, and COncourse award Muskoka, ONT 1992
  • 1st Place in class and Best of show Port Huron, MI 1990/1991/1992
  • 1st Place in class and Best of show Traverse City, MI 1994
  • 1st Place in class and Best of show Toledo, OH 1994

Current: 

The Maski has been stored in a private conditioned boat house and is currently waiting for a new owner. It is trailered on a custom build made to fit boat. Varnished in 1996 with 18 coats. Boat has not been in the water since 1996.
