Further Comments
"Sea Dog" is a registered as sloop #141 by the Friendship Sloop Society. She is 33'8" LOA, 25' LOD. The hull is yellow pine over an oak frame. Decks are fiberglassed plywood. Her roomy cockpit easily seats 6 adults in comfort. A new solid spruce mast (1997), spruce spars, wooden mast hoops, wood blocks, bronze and brass hardware and a wooden-handled iron wheel complete her salty look. She has 4 sails - mainsail, staysail, jib and genoa. The Dacron sails are in good condition have an area from 400 to 560 square feet. The hull is sound. Some flaking can be found on the paint finish and her brightwork requires varnishing. The mast is in need of scraping and varnishing. Decks are serviceable, but need work, as do the combing and seats. Sea Dog can be sailed as is. The interior is spartan consisting of a chart table, cupboards and 4 plain berths. Electronics are minimal - engine ignition and bilge pump only. No electric running lights. The inboard Volvo Penta 1-cylinder diesel engine was completely rebuilt in 1993. No survey has been done on this vessel. She has been out of the water since November 2003 sits on jackstands and has been covered against the elements. She is examined at least 4 times annually. Sea Dog is located in Buffalo, New York - on Lake Erie at the mouth of the Niagara River.
