Further Comments

Beautiful Eight-Foot Norwegian Pram.

The sailboat was built from Frank Davis plans, from Gougeon Brothers, Custom Boat Builder, Bay City, Michigan. Everything was built in my wood shop, including the spars. For additional photos, look up on YouTube:  Building an eight foot Norwegian Pram.

About the boat:

There are 11 different types of wood used to build the boat. Mahogany (bow and stern), Red Oak (trim and dagger boards), White Oak (trim and dagger boards), Poplar (dagger board slot), Sugar Maple (seats and bow), Wild Cherry (knees), Eastern Red Cedar (inside hull), Western Red Cedar underside hull), Birch (dagger board slot), Ash (cleats), and Douglas Fir (spars).
There are 475 individual pieces of wood in the boat itself. The hull was built with diagonal planking. The outside of the hull is two layers of Western Red Cedar, with each piece from side to side matching or mirror image. The inside has one layer of Eastern Red Cedar pieces matching from side to side, mirror image. The underside of the hull has 4 ounces fiberglass in the first coat, followed by two additional coats of epoxy. he inside of the hull I covered with one coat of epoxy, sanded and three additional coats of Marine Varnish for UV protection. The sail is from Sailrite. The boat has only been in the water once. The boat fits nice in the back of an eight foot pickup truck. Asking $6000.00.
